Periodontics is a branch of dentistry science employed to preserve and promote the teeth`s adjacent tissues and implant (prevention, diagnosis and treatment) and regeneration of jaws` soft and hard tissue and replacement of missing teeth with dental implants. Emphasis in this major is on the teeth`s health preservation and dental implants by using all the preventive methods and modern treatment techniques.

1. Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Oral and maxillofacial pathology is one of the specialty courses in dentistry, which incorporates knowledge about the etiology, the disease courses, and identification and reporting of microscopic changes (histopathology) in tissues affected by various disease entities. In fact, this specialty field attempts to establish a logical relationship between anatomical findings and the signs of different disease conditions affecting the oral cavity and the adjacent tissues and structures. In addition, a large number of basic research studies in different dental branches are carried out in this field.

▎ 8-Master of Oral Medicine
The oral medicine field is one of the most potentially capable and rather old fields in our country, with a history of almost 30 years. The oral medicine specialists are one of the most efficient members of the medical community despite limited resources available for them.
It can be claimed that the oral medicine field bears the most important burdens in the dental and medical fields. One of the most important responsibilities of oral medicine is to establish a relationship between oral and medical fields, finally resulting in promotion of health status of the community and in solving the problems of patients with special conditions, including skin, cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, gastrointestinal, oncology, endocrine glands, rheumatology, neurology, pediatric conditions, infections, transplantations etc. It appears the only body responsible for the dental management of the patients with above conditions is the under- and post-graduate dental students and oral medicine specialists.
Specialists in various fields of medicine require consultation with oral medicine specialists for correct diagnosis and treatment of patients with special diseases in order to prevent, diagnose, prepare treatment plans, control and follow the oral problems of these patients.
Oral medicine specialists can play a greater role in scientific progress through the use of modern technologies and new research methods and by establishing relationship with other related fields, as evidenced by the existence of 13 fellowship fields in relation to oral diseases.
Oral medicine specialists can play an important role in prevention, treatment and counseling by cooperating with other specialties in the dental field. In this context, a determining factor is the standard of education. When the education is not favorable, one aspect of the subject will have a problem and the patients will not be worked up properly, creating problem for the health and treatment system. ▎ 10-Master of Endodontics
We believe it is the right of every human being to be healthy and all the medical personnel should feel responsible for the provision, preservation and promotion of the health of all the community members. We believe the specialists in this branch of dentistry (endodontists) will be able, through learning the preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic techniques of the pulp and periapical diseases and through the use of the best equipment, materials and novel techniques, to play a great role in preserving teeth and promoting the health of all the members of the community. We also believe it is possible to render the best services to the community by adopting community-oriented attitudes by considering the needs of the community and by relying on effective practical-communicative skills.
By considering the 10-year Prospects Document up to 2025, we aim to train knowledgeable and efficient specialists in the fields of prevention and treatment and also aim, through expanding the boundaries of knowledge in endodontics, to achieve a prominent position in this region and to significantly decrease the number of teeth extracted for endodontic reasons.
The mission of this field is to train the specialist human resources based on global standards and based on the needs of the country. The graduates will be able to offer the best preventive-therapeutic services and will be able to teach in dental faculties all over the country to develop research activities and expand the boundaries of knowledge.

- Preparation of an appropriate access cavity in all the teeth
- Preparation of straight and curved root canals with hand and rotary systems
- Obturation of straight and curved root canals
- Retreatment of teeth with one or several root canals
- Carrying out root-end surgeries by placing a retrograde material
- Vital pulp therapy
- Apex genesis
- Apexification by placing apical plugs
- Regeneration of necrotic teeth with open apices
- Management and treatment of traumatized teeth
- Fresh socket implant treatment
- Bleaching of non-vital teeth
- Forming a team to do interdisciplinary approach by being involved with different postgraduate programs for treating complicated cases

▎ 11-Master of Dental Public Health
Community Oral Health (COH) is concerned with the oral health of a population rather than individuals and has been defined as the science and art of preventing oral diseases, promoting oral health and improving the quality of life through the organized efforts of society. The discipline covers a wide range and includes such topics as prevention, management, policy making, planning, implementation and evaluation of dental services in the community. Successful completion of the course leads to Master of Dental Public Health (MDPH) degree.
The Master of Dental Public Health is a professional master’s degree allowing students to gain competencies in broad-based areas of Community Oral Health practice.
