Standard Assessment Test of Persian Language Skills (SAMFA Test)

SAMFA Test is one of the most significant tests to assess competency in the Persian language. SAMFA is the acronym for Standard Assessment Test of Persian Language Skills. This test evaluates the ability of Persian language skills, without considering where and how people have learned. SAMFA is designed similar to the IELTS and TOEFL in English. The test is founded by the collaboration of different organizations like the International and Scientific Cooperation Center, National Organization of Educational Testing (NOET), Foreign Students General Office of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and the help of leading professors and universities.

SAMFA is an essential requirement that foreign students who want to continue their studies in the Islamic Republic of Iran have to satisfy. According to the approved regulations, all foreign students must take the test. Based on existing standards, this test consists of two general and national parts. In the general part, the ability of Persian language skills will be evaluated for the students who want to study in schools and universities, to get residency, work and business activity permission or they want to establish international offices, etc. in the Islamic Republic of Iran. This test is generally held three times a year in the country and simultaneously in Persian language chairs abroad.

The SAMFA is the only official test approved by Iranian and non-Iranian universities and companies. By using the test, it is possible to rank the ability of the students in the Persian language who are eager to study in Iran and to pave the way for them to continue their studies in the country. Moreover, the test can be used to obtain a work visa, a residency permit, establishing offices, etc. Also, the other advantage of the test is the standardization of the Persian language for non-Persian speakers and those interested in the Persian language and studying and working in the country.

Each skill in the SAMFA test has 60 points, ultimately producing a 240-point. Each listening and reading skill consists of 30 questions. Moreover, there are two questions for the writing part of the test and 180 minutes for both of them. The speech test also takes about 15 minutes.

It is possible to get the test transcript from the National Organization of Educational Testing website by entering the application and passport number. Besides, the SAMFA certificate will be forwarded to the address entered when registering for the test. The National Organization of Educational Testing certifies license for this test in Persian and English, with validity for two years.
